Krøyer, Peter Severin (1851 - 1909): Self-portrait of P.S Krøyer. Print. Signed and dated SK Jan 99 in the plate. 21.7 x 17.5 cm. Bottom: Test print 7. A very rare print. The copper plate was discarded after a few prints, probably due to a mis etching. The plate has been in the Copperplate Collection since 1978, which has four different prints from it. The Hirschsprung Collection and the Skagen Museum each have one. Lauritz Tuxen wrote an article about Krøyer in Kunstbladet, December 1909, in which this etching is depicted with the following text: “First Self-portrait etching. 1898. The plate destroyed after the 3rd Imprint. ”
