Acanthus silver cutlery from Georg Jensen silversmithy. Flatware Acanthus, Soup Ladle no. 151, length 36.5cm. 14 1/4 inches. Vintage marks Georg Jensen & Wendel 1945-1952. Sterling silber. Fine condition, normal signs of use.
Designed by the painter, Johan Rohde, and produced since 1917. Johan Rohde , who lived for a time in Italy, was inspired by the antique style. This shows in the cutlery's pillar shaped handle which ends in a Corinthian capital with acanthus leaves. Johan Rohde began his close and lifelong association with Georg Jensen in 1906.
