Anders Ova Painting 2003: Sheep at hill. Acryl on board? in silver frame 66 x 55.5 cm
The Norwegian-born Mariager artist describes his paintings as modern cave paintings with the same Norwegian inspiration from rocks, knolls and caves, which originate from the rocky country in the north, but the artistic development has gone towards a gradual fine-tuning of the form of expression, with greater abstraction and coloristic effort. Anders Ova tells about how Greek mythology now appears in some of the pictures together with modernist ideas. Humor plays a decisive role, where the classic expression plays together with imaginative figurations. Nature continues to play a decisive role in the painting - not as landscape pictures, but as partially abstract impressions of nature. Anders Ova 1942, was born in Telemark in Norway, moved to Denmark in the early 1970s. Copenhagen and the arts drew him to Denmark in 1966 where, as a preliminary study for the art academy, he read at the Academy for Free and Mercantile Art in Copenhagen in the period 1966 - 1968. Instead of the art academy, it became the Bergenholz School of Decoration , where he also met his wife Anette. Back in Norway, Ova worked for a short time as advertising manager at Braun and painted in the artist Hans Rasmussen's studio in Horten. Denmark and specifically South Funen drew Anders and Anette to Langeland. Here it turned into a short period as a full-time painter, but it was spirituality, theology and church social work that became the livelihood and lifestyle for the couple for many years in Svendborg. It did, however, lead to exhibitions both in Norway and Langeland's Art Association. After many years, when work as a university teacher, writer and lecturer was the subject of creativity, there has recently been room again to really express yourself with acrylic and oil on canvas and watercolor paint.
