The piston moves back and forth when the bottom screw is activated, but it cannot absorb ink, which is why it must be restored before it can function as a fountain pen again. The cap is discolored, which is why it is not quite the same color as the rest of the pen. Made by Pelikan in Germany, which the pen's design actually reveals. L 11.2 cm
