Mason’s traces back to the potter Charles James Mason (1791–1856), who founded the company in Staffordshire in the early 19th century. Mason became particularly known for its robust ironstone production, which gained wide popularity in Britain and export markets. During the 19th and 20th centuries the factory produced a broad range of faience and tableware, including distinctive transferware decorations. Mason’s is today regarded as a classic name in English ceramics.
