Elegant art glass vase in clear glass with encased red core and green tone at the base, featuring a very long slender neck and sculptural teardrop form typical of Murano glass.

Bio:
Murano is an island in the Venetian Lagoon that has been the centre of Italian glassmaking since the late 13th century. In 1291 the Venetian authorities ordered glass furnaces to move from Venice to Murano to protect the valuable secrets of glass production and reduce fire risks in the city. Over the centuries Murano glassmakers developed advanced techniques including coloured and layered glass, where multiple layers are encased to create depth and colour effects. During the mid-20th century Murano gained international recognition for modern art glass characterised by elegant sculptural forms and refined colour combinations.
