Rare Louis Vuitton “Reuge swiss” music box.
Mechanical music box with winding by the brand Reuge, with a rococo couple dancing around and moving up and down to a piece of music under a glass globe.
Measures: Height 19cm. Dia. 13cm. Is in good condition and works.

The dolls are handmade by Marthe Philippart, clothes made of silk, gauze, lace, the hair is made of sheep wool.

Marthe Philippart made the world's smallest dolls, they were commissioned by Louis Vuitton from around 1930-50 in collaboration with Swiss Reuge who is known for their fantastic music boxes since the 1800s.
The music box was sold in Louis Vuitton's toy department which was founded by Louis Vuitton's wife Mrs. Gaston Vuitton who was personally involved in the founding.
The toy department lasted until well after the move to Avenue Marceau in 1954.
Louis Vuitton also sold skittles, dolls, puzzles, games and teddy bears, among other things.
