Bio:
Royal Copenhagen was founded in Copenhagen in 1775 under the patronage of Queen Dowager Juliane Marie. The Flora Danica service was begun in 1790 and remains one of the porcelain manufactory’s most celebrated creations. Its botanical motifs are based on illustrations from the extensive Danish botanical work Flora Danica and are executed as individually hand-painted decorations. The service is renowned for its detailed porcelain painting, distinctive pierced and serrated borders, and extensive gilding.
