Bio:
Axel Salto (1889–1961) was a Danish painter, graphic artist, ceramicist and writer and is regarded as one of the most important Danish ceramic artists of the 20th century. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1909 to 1914 and began working extensively with ceramics during the 1920s. From 1933, he collaborated with Royal Copenhagen, where his organic approach to form and experimental treatment of ceramic surfaces became highly influential in Danish ceramics.
