Bio:
Louis Icart (1888–1950) was a French painter, illustrator and printmaker, particularly renowned for his elegant etchings of female figures and scenes of fashionable Parisian life. He developed a distinctive visual language associated with the refinement of the Art Deco period, combined with a soft and highly decorative line. Icart worked extensively with etching and drypoint, frequently enhanced with hand-applied colour, and his graphic works achieved considerable international popularity during the 1920s and 1930s. Women, fashion, romance and modern metropolitan life are recurring themes throughout his work.
