Abstract-Expressionist composition constructed from bold areas of colour and fragmented forms in red, blue, black, yellow and turquoise. Energetic, heavily textured brushwork and pronounced contrasts create a dense and dynamic pictorial surface, with suggestions of figurative and architectural forms emerging between the abstract passages. Signed on the reverse and dated 1963.

Bio:
Hans Einar Polmar (1927–2013) was a Swedish painter, graphic artist and sculptor from Vreta Kloster in Östergötland. He studied at institutions including Konstfack and Gerlesborgsskolan and worked across painting, printmaking and sculpture throughout his career. Polmar also produced several works of public art, including painted and relief-carved wooden compositions. He was active within the Swedish art community around Södertälje and is documented as a member of Södertälje Konstnärskrets. His artistic output consequently ranged from expressive painting and graphic work to larger public commissions.
