Bio:
Harry Wichmann (1916–1993) was a Swedish painter, draughtsman and graphic artist born in Stockholm. A self-taught artist, he undertook study trips to Spain, France, England, Portugal and North Africa. His artistic practice encompassed urban scenes, landscapes and figurative compositions, often characterised by expressive brushwork, balanced compositions and a sensitive use of colour. His works capture the atmosphere of everyday surroundings through a distinctive combination of observation and painterly interpretation.
